The OXVA Artio 2: Everything You Need to Know (And Do We Love it Or Hate It?)
The vaping industry has been chasing the “perfect cigarette alternative” for years, but honestly, most devices miss the mark.
Some get the draw right but fail on flavor. Others nail nicotine delivery but still feel nothing like smoking. Heated tobacco products have probably come the closest overall, especially when it comes to authentic tobacco flavor.
That’s what made the OXVA Artio 2 so interesting to me right away. OXVA isn’t marketing this as just another prefilled pod vape. They’re positioning it as a genuine cigarette alternative, specifically designed for smokers. After spending time with it, I can confidently say this device is unlike anything else I’ve tested recently.
At the same time, it’s also one of the strangest vaping experiences I’ve had in years.
First Impressions and Design
The first thing that stood out to me was the build quality. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever described a pod vape as flawless before, but the Artio 2 comes really close. Everything about it feels premium.
The zinc-alloy frame has a smooth satin finish that looks clean and mature without trying too hard. The recessed diamond accents add texture without making the device flashy, and the faux leather panels on my version gave it a really polished look. OXVA clearly put serious effort into the aesthetics here.
I also loved the shape and size. The Artio 2 feels slimmer and more natural in the hand than most pod systems. It’s lightweight, pocket-friendly, and extremely comfortable to carry around. There’s something understated about it that I genuinely appreciate. Instead of looking futuristic or overdesigned, it just feels refined.
If this device supported XLIM pods, it honestly might become my favorite OXVA device overall based on design alone.

Getting Started
This is about as simple as vaping gets. There’s virtually no learning curve whatsoever.
I inserted a pod, inhaled, and it immediately worked. That’s the entire setup process. No buttons, no wattage adjustments, no menus, and no complicated settings to scroll through.
The only real feature is the battery indicator on the front of the device. It changes color based on remaining battery life, shifting from green to blue to red as the battery drains.
For smokers looking to switch to vaping, that simplicity is probably a huge advantage. There’s nothing intimidating about this device at all.
How the OXVA Artio 2 Hits
This is where things get complicated.
OXVA built a surprising amount of technology into the Artio 2. The pods use what they call “Exclusive Liquid Tobacco,” which seems heavily inspired by naturally extracted tobacco blends, although OXVA never fully confirms that.
The coil design is especially interesting. They use something called an α-coil nest mesh, which basically looks like a chaotic bird’s nest of ultra-thin wire wrapped around the wick. Combined with their liquid control system and intelligent chipset, the goal is to recreate the sensation of actual smoking as closely as possible.
And honestly? I think they succeeded.
The first puff genuinely caught me off guard. Instead of tasting like a traditional vape, the Artio 2 feels closer to a cross between smoking and heated tobacco. There’s a muffled crackle when inhaling, subtle ash notes, toasted tobacco flavor, and a cigarette-like draw that feels surprisingly authentic.
My immediate reaction was basically: “This is incredibly impressive… and I kind of hate it.”
That probably sounds harsh, but context matters. I haven’t smoked cigarettes in over a decade, and I personally dislike heated tobacco products. So while I can appreciate what OXVA accomplished technically, I’m not really the target audience for this vape.
For smokers though? I can absolutely see the appeal.
The Biggest Issues I Experienced
As impressive as the technology is, I did run into some problems during testing.
The biggest issue for me was dry hits. They happened fairly often, especially when I chain-vaped the device like a normal pod system. To be fair, smokers probably use devices differently than experienced vapers do. Most smokers take a puff every 20 to 30 seconds instead of repeatedly hitting the vape back-to-back.
Still, the wicking struggled more than I expected. My guess is the liquid itself uses a slightly thicker VG-heavy formula, which slows saturation.
The second issue was the throat hit. Ironically, for a vape designed to replicate smoking, the throat hit felt surprisingly soft. The vapor temperature also stayed very cool.
That’s one area where cigarettes still feel very different. Smoking has sharpness and harshness to it. The Artio 2 nails the tobacco flavor profile much better than the actual throat sensation.

Best Flavors I Tried
The flavors on the Artio 2 are extremely different from normal tobacco vape juices.
Most tobacco e-liquids taste like fresh tobacco leaves or sweet cured tobacco aromas. These taste like tobacco that’s actively burning or toasting. There’s a very distinct ash component throughout most of the lineup.
Golden Tobacco ended up being my favorite overall. It had slightly sweet undertones with caramel-like notes that softened the ash flavor a bit. Out of all the tobacco options, it felt the most balanced and approachable to me.
Original Tobacco was probably the closest thing to an actual cigarette flavor. Dark, bold, smoky, and very ash-heavy. Smokers will probably appreciate it more than most vapers.
Double Apple Shisha was easily the most unusual flavor of the group. It barely resembled a traditional fruit vape. Instead, it tasted woody, earthy, and strangely smoky. I didn’t necessarily love it, but I definitely found it memorable.
Battery Life and Charging
The 900mAh battery won’t blow anyone away on paper, but it actually makes sense for this type of device.
In my experience, one full charge lasted almost exactly the same amount of time as one pod. That balance was convenient because I never really had to check liquid levels separately.
Charging speed was decent too. A full recharge took around 38 minutes, and the device supports pass-through vaping, so I could still use it while charging.
What Do You Think?
This was honestly one of the hardest vape reviews I’ve written because I had to separate my personal preferences from the actual goal of the device.
As a longtime vaper, the Artio 2 isn’t something I’d personally use every day. The authentic tobacco flavor, ash notes, and cigarette-like experience simply aren’t what I look for anymore.
But objectively speaking, OXVA accomplished something genuinely impressive here.
The Artio 2 feels purpose-built for smokers in a way that very few pod systems do. The design is outstanding, the cigarette-style draw feels convincing, and the tobacco realism is honestly kind of shocking at times.
The device definitely still needs refinement. The dry hits need improvement, the throat hit could be stronger, and I’d love to see more non-tobacco flavor options in the future.
Still, I absolutely think the Artio 2 has real potential for smokers and heated tobacco users looking for an alternative. For most regular vapers, though, it’s probably going to feel a little too close to the real thing.
